WORKLAB meets in Milan
WORKLAB – International Association of Labour Museums – will meet in July. Our next meeting will be part of ICOM General Conference, the biggest museum event in the world (3-9 July 2016, Milan, Italy). General conference has plenty of seminars, best speakers and thousands of museum professionals – in the wonderful city of Milan!
CIMUSET (International Committee for Museums and Collections of Science and Technology) is organising a very interesting part of the program under the question “What role for science, technology and industry in cultural landscapes?”. WORKLAB and our local member organisation MUSIL (Museum of Industry and Labour of Brescia) are co-organising a session in this CIMUSET part of the program. Our session “Work and Industry in the Heritage of Modern Landscapes” will be organised Wed 6th July at 14.00-18.00 with eight interesting presentations. You can see titles of presentations here:

When you have registered yourself, please visit the CIMUSET page and register there as well. This second registration is necessary to participate program with CIMUSET especially Social Dinner July 6th at 20.00 and Off-Site meeting on Thu 7th July. On Thursday, we will visit together to Villaggio Crespi d’Adda, which is a late 19th century perfect workers’ village and UNESCO World Heritage site. Besides Villaggio Crespi, we will visit Taccani Hydroelectric powerplant and Museum of the Hydroelectric power at Cedegolo, run by MUSIL. You can find the form to register at:

WORKLAB is also organising a social meeting point on Tuesday evening 5th July at The National Museum of Science and Technology. This fantastic museum is open for the participants of the General Conference whole evening (18.30 – 23.30). Inside the museum, our meeting will be held in the Falck hall that houses the machineries of an old steel factory. It is number 40 in the museum map and can be found in the floor -1. How you can get there? When you have entered the museum, please take the nearest stairs and go done, walk forward and go downstairs again. There you can find the Falck hall with wonderful museum professionals from Worklab museums. We promise to be there between 19-21: it is a great opportunity to network and meet colleagues from labour museums in Milan! Museum map:
